On June 29, the ShanghaiRanking’s Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) Released the 2020 "World First-class Discipline Ranking", which includes more than 1,800 universities from 90 countries and regions. The ranking covers 54 disciplines, including science, engineering, life sciences, medicine, and social sciences. Guangdong University of Science and Technology has 13 disciplines on the list, 3 of which are among the top 100 in the world, ranking the 61st in China.

Guangdong University of Science and Technology ranked among the world's top 100 in three disciplines: control science and Engineering,communication Engineering,computer science and Engineering. Among them, control science and engineering rose from 76-100 last year to 51-75, which shows the discipline strength has been upgraded to higher level.
